The Architecture of Wellbeing: Designing Sustainable Housing
Join award-winning architect Andrew Maynard, director of Austin Maynard Architects, for a discussion on the future of sustainable housing. This session explores how thoughtful design can address the dual challenges of the climate crisis and housing crisis while prioritising joy and community. Andrew will lead participants through the foundations of sustainable design, focusing on multi-residential communities. Using real world examples of Austin Maynard Architect’s celebrated projects Terrace House, Parklife, Thornbury House and the upcoming local Geelong development Hope & Autumn - he will demonstrate how homes can be built for context, planet and connection.Attendees will learn how Geelong, as a UNESCO City of Design, can lead by adopting housing models that embrace a holistic approach to sustainable living. At AM.A, sustainability is synonymous with wellbeing; and this is a session about designing with intention, heart, and common sense to create healthier, more resilient urban communities.
