Rather than relying on a single, overwhelming wall of glass, the design features a heavy recycled-brick base anchored into the sloping site, topped by a sleek white structure inspired by sci-fi aesthetics. By moving the staircases outside and using transparent fibreglass decking, the architects minimised excavation, reduced the internal footprint, and allowed natural light and vegetation to filter through the property.
Inside, the home cleverly zones lively day spaces away from quiet night areas, including a secluded study and a private master suite. It also tackles future accessibility and privacy head-on: vibrant joinery seamlessly conceals a hidden goods lift for ageing in place, whilst external metal blades are turned at 45-degree angles to block out neighbouring houses without sacrificing strategic, borrowed views of the surf and coast.
