Tomihiro Museum

Japan

Using Tomihiro Hoshino’s paintings as a catalyst, this competition entry for the

Tomihiro museum of Shi-Ga is an emotive and expressive mixture of natural, earthy, textured material within

ordered and restrained

structure. Specifically Tomihiro’s Pussy Willow

implies a physical, tactile, textured and spatial relationship between the colour, pattern and the text

as both pattern and meaning. The text itself, beyond offering poignant poetry, also provides us with a graphical relationship

between meaning and space.
